JM Finn win City Brokers Twenty20 Cup again

Last night saw JM Finn take on the unbeaten Smith & Williamson in the final of the City Brokers Twenty20 Cup. With six frontline players missing, JM Finn won the toss and elected to bat...

On a pitch showing signs of inconsistent bounce JM Finn started to look in bad shape at 39 for 5 after eight overs, in what looked like a classic collapse, but thanks to a couple of solid contributions, battled to 117 all out.

S&W began their reply steadily but soon came up against a fantastic spell of bowling from JM Finn, with one notable set of figures of 4 wickets for 4 runs in 4 overs, putting JM Finn back in the game.  However, S&W soon needed only 31 runs off 36 balls putting the pressure back on.  As the match drew to an exciting close, S&W’s leading batsman mistimed a big hit which was brilliantly taken in the deep, to win the cup for JM Finn.

It was a great win for JM Finn to ensure the City Brokers cup was retained. The team will hope to be back next year, to defend the title and make it a hat-trick of wins.
