Great City Race returns for 2016

Thursday 14th July saw the return of the Standard Cha rtered Great City Race for 2016, the 12th edition of the race. 5,000 runners took part in the run.

The city traffic was put on hold as the annual event attracted over 500 teams. Organised in aid of the charity, Seeing is Believing, the 5km run is open to corporate teams from around the City of London a team of JM Finn & Co’s finest athletes stepped forward to represent the firm.

Of our sixteen starters, Dom Keily, having cunningly disguised himself as an elite athlete, started from the front and topped the team’s time sheet in a strong time of 21 minutes 28 seconds, followed closely by Ed Jarvis, Fred Mahon, and William Smyth-Osbourne within 30 seconds of Dom’s pace. Alison Finney, a last minute stand-in, was the first of the ladies home with a strong finish of 23 mins 17 seconds.

Try as we might, sadly we were still someway off the winning time of 14 mins 46, and the leading team of 4 posted an astonishing accumulated time of 1hr 3mins 27secs. There’s always next year!
