The dogs are trained to provide support for adults and children with physical disabilities, as well as providing dogs to help and assist children with autism.
The dogs are highly trained, for example helping with opening and closing doors, getting dressed, emptying the washing machine and switching on and off lights, while for autistic children they become a calming influence that helps to bring some normality to very disruptive households.
As part of the partnership with Dogs for the Disabled JM Finn & Co is sponsoring ‘Finn’, a curly coat cross golden retriever who is only a few months old (see photos 5 and 6 above). The sponsorship will allow Finn to be trained as a special assistance dog and hopefully in 2 years time he will be placed with someone who is in desperate need of help. .
